How we develop new Electrifying Trains
Electrifying Trains is small, but that does not stop us using the very latest techniques in the development of new models. These include rapid prototyping and extensive use of 3D CAD printing techniques. These are especially useful in the design and production of very detailed parts where traditional approaches and materials are less suitable.
Illustrated below are some of the 3-D models that went into the design of the front end of our SR 4-COR EMU.
Where possible we revert to original works drawings, but if none exist or there appear to be inacuracies, then new drawings must be prepared, as in the case of our SR Articulated and Push-Pull units.
The development of our latest L&Y Manchester - Bury EMU was greatly simplified and speeded up through use of advanced CAD in the development of detailed etches and through 3-CAD in delivery of complex castings; we show some of these images below.
We will continue to explore the latest techniques available in the development of new Electrifying Trains.
